The Parable Editorial

daily news

Parable is a very personal project to me. It’s something that I’ve been toying with the idea of for well over two years, despite never seriously attempting to bring it to fruition until the last few months. In that time I’ve worked on multiple side projects, but none have had the drive I feel when working on this site. After a lot of preparatory work and our fair share of setbacks, ParableGames has been live as a brand for shortly under 2 months now.

We’ve had a lot of changes in this time and accomplished an awfully large amount considering how competitive the field is, but we’re looking nowhere but onwards and upwards from here on. The following is a short look at Parable and the changes that we’ve undertaken so far, as well as a short glimpse at the future plans for the brand.

The Team

We’ve been fluctuating with our writers since launch, allowing a multitude of people to submit guest pieces to the site and picking up new writers to work alongside the core team we started with, but I’m very happy to officially announce that we have a new member to our regular lineup. He’s the writer that bought us the Endless Space review recently and we have his introduction right here:

My name is Matthew Edwards, though I tend to go by Shuckle or Shuckeru online. I do most of my gaming on the PC and, rather embarrassingly, it’s casual simulation games and visual novels, along with strategy games that soak up most of my time. Outside of video games I enjoy anime and the related to a reasonable extent, so you’ll have to excuse any weeaboo tendencies.

Our Content

Parable has grown many times over in the size of its fanbase since early June. We started off focusing mainly on opinion pieces and building up our individual repertoires, working as seperate writers to make the idea work, but as time has passed and the number of contacts we’ve made within the industry has grown we’ve become more co-dependant. We’ve started moving away from our focus on opinion pieces and began to place more of an emphasis on Previews and Reviews of newer titles due to the support of our partners on top of the relatively new “Daily News”; a compilation of the most important content in the gaming world updated daily.

We have a lot of future plans for expanding on our content, especially our Social and Multimedia (speaking of which, be sure to subscribe to our Youtube channel), which we really need to keep under wraps until they’re closer to fruition at this point. However, we can announce that the first episode of the Parable Cast; our own twist on the standard Gaming Podcast, will be launching next Saturday with the first episode being available both on Youtube and as a download then. Look forward to it!

The Site

Our website was struck with a number of issues in original development and Version 1 with features and image, but at the moment it’s functioning well enough for our needs. The site is very basic and clean, which I imagine is a draw to some of you, but we do have improvements in the pipeline that you’ll see relatively soon. Within the upcoming weeks the site will be recieving a new updated and sleek skin with a slew of instantly noticeable and more backend focused functions, which will allow us to keep on moving in the direction we want to. We have no set release date as of yet, so keep your eyes peeled.

Lastly, we’d like to thank the people that have been with us from the start, the people that have just joined us, as well as anybody reading this piece now or in the future. The first Parable was an interesting one, we hope you’re looking forward to the main story as much as we are.

Hey there, I’m Dan. I’m the Managing Director and Editor in Chief of Parable. I adore gaming and have a big background in console eSports, which is probably why a lot of my pieces put such an emphasis on it. Aside from that, any good RPG, FPS or Visual Novel can drag me away from the real world for double digit sessions. I also write for Decerto.net and Team eNigma, leading eSports brands.
